We spent a month this Spring in the lovely little village of Limano in northern Tuscany. Really nice self-catering apartment and a great host, Joseph; villagers were all really friendly even though we speak very little Italian. Thank goodness for a log fire, as the weather was quite cold at times and a lot of showers. Apart from one train trip into a very crowded Florence, we mostly pottered in the many hill-top villages, walked in the countryside, wined, dined and relaxed. We did our food shopping in Bagni di Lucca, where again the people were very friendly and helpful. The city of Lucca is not far away and was great to explore; there are some superb villas and gardens that we visited just north of Lucca. The wildflowers in the region were fantastic and are on a separate Post.
